Location and organiser
WINTER SKI takes place on 23 January 2027 in Narva-Jõesuu as part of Estonia Winter Fest. The start and finish are on the beach by the pier. Organiser: MTÜ Noorteaeg. Contact: [email protected], +372 5557 2817.
Distances and age
The 500 m children’s race is for children aged 10 and under. The 3 km race is for ages 11–13. The 5 km race is for ages 14 and over, including veteran skiers. Age is determined on race day. Select the distance for your age when registering. Minors participate with permission from a parent or legal guardian; a responsible adult must accompany children taking part in the 500 m race at the event venue.
Technique and route
This is a freestyle race: both skating and classic technique are allowed. The course follows the snow-covered beach. The route map is being finalised and will be published on the website before the race. A separate classic track has not yet been confirmed.
Registration and entry fees
Register through Fienta or on site during race number collection. When buying several tickets, enter each participant’s details separately. Have your registration confirmation ready when collecting your number.
Prices depend on the total number registered across all distances, including the children’s race. First 20 participants: 3 or 5 km — €7 (sold out). Participants 21–100: 3 and 5 km — €10, 500 m — €5. Participants 101–200: €15 and €7 respectively. From participant 201 and on site: €20 and €10. There is no participant limit.
Programme and race numbers
12:00–13:30 — race number collection at the start village by the harbour, Suur-Lootsi 4, in the same place as Winter Run. Arrive early so you have time to reach the start by the pier after collecting your number.
13:30 — 500 m children’s start. 14:00 — mass start for 3 and 5 km. 14:30–16:00 — sauna for participants. Around 15:00 — awards on the main stage. The award ceremony time is approximate.
Timing and awards
Electronic timing is provided for the 3 and 5 km races. Your race number must remain visible during the race. Instructions for using the timing chip will be given at number collection. A results link will be published on the website after the race.
The top three boys and top three girls on 3 km, and the top three men and top three women on 5 km receive awards. There are no separate veteran or other age categories on 5 km. Every finisher receives a WINTER SKI commemorative metal medal.
Children’s race — 500 m
The start is at 13:30 for children aged 10 and under. There are no placings or competitive timing. Every child who completes the distance receives a medal. Parents should help their child prepare for the start and meet them at the finish. Agree any assistance on the course with the organisers.
What is included
Entry to your chosen distance, a race number, electronic timing on 3 and 5 km and a finisher’s medal. One free sauna entry from 14:30 to 16:00 with your race number. Keep your number after finishing. Bring your own towel, swimwear and flip-flops. Festival and concert admission is free.
Equipment and safety
Participants need serviceable cross-country skis, suitable ski boots and poles. Dress for the weather and bring a hat, gloves and dry, warm spare clothing. Choose a pace suited to your fitness and the course conditions.
Follow course markings and organisers’ instructions. Keep a safe gap, avoid obstructing others when overtaking and handle poles carefully. Do not go onto the sea ice: stay on the marked course. Stop and contact the organisers if you feel unwell. If you withdraw, always inform an event staff member.
Belongings, changing and parking
The festival venue will have a place for belongings, changing facilities, showers and toilets. Locations will be announced before the race. Keep valuables with you or your companions.
Use permitted parking spaces and follow road signs. A dedicated parking space is not guaranteed. Keep access to the start area and service routes clear.
Changes and cancellation
Insufficient snow, unsafe weather or course conditions may require the organiser to change the course or timetable, postpone or cancel the race. Updates will be published on the website and sent to registered participants.
If the race is cancelled, the entry fee will be refunded in full. If postponed, the new date and further arrangements will be announced separately. Check this page for updates before travelling.
